Founder · Haas Strategy Solutions
Strategy fails in silence.
I start there.
Thirty years advising CEOs and boards across technology, energy, healthcare, nonprofits, federal agencies, and finance. My job is to say what no one else in the room will say.
The Difference
What you get that you won't find elsewhere
Range that transfers
Field ecology. Urban planning. Petroleum engineering. Federal policy. Each asks the same question: given what we know and don't know, what's the best decision right now? That's strategy.
Rigor, not reassurance
Twenty years as National Ethics Officer for IMC USA, investigating cases for the profession. I say what others won't. Your strategy is a fiduciary obligation, not a slide deck to approve.
Direct access, always
A limited number of executive/CEO clients. No junior team, no handoff, no account management layer. You get thirty years of experience with executives applied directly to your situation.

In Their Words
What CEOs say
"Mark's services are integral to the development of the business plan for a 580-person service provider. He was able to identify problem areas, recommend remedial actions, and assist the CEO with staff assignments. His quick assessment and the creation of interim steps helped provide a much-needed kick-start. Mark's integrity and attention to detail are exceptional."
"We had been thinking about these facets of our business for a long time. You helped us work through a tremendous amount of material in a short time. It was fantastic to have all of those thoughts organized and laid out in a way that can help us advance our business more effectively."
"In less than a year he has reenergized and revamped us to a level that amazes us all. Mark has an incredible wealth of knowledge of organizations, their dynamics and how to improve their operations, productivity and teamwork."
Client Experience
Four decades across industries and sectors
Clients range from $5M startups to global institutions. Each engagement is direct: no junior team, no subcontractors. Click any client for a one-page engagement summary.
Case studies are available for clients with document icons. A note on outcomes: Strategy work creates conditions for success that often play out over years and through many other inputs. The cases below describe what changed in each organization's capacity to think, decide, and operate. Where direct financial outcomes are visible, they are named. Where they are not, the case describes the institutional change.
Each client card links to a one-page engagement summary. Download the full list and selected case studies below.

-
More than 100 organizations across energy, healthcare, defense, biomedical research, nonprofits, finance, and professional services. Past clients include NIH, Office of Naval Research, Exxon, Mobil, American Medical Association, Volunteers of America, NatureServe, Goodwin Living, and the Government of Tanzania.
-
CMC is the international professional certification for management consultants, awarded after passing competency exams, demonstrating client work, and committing to a code of ethics. Less than 1% of US consultants hold it. Mark led IMC USA, the certifying body, for several years.
-
Strategy is not a planning event. It is a series of choices that need to be tested, governed, and adapted as conditions shift. The work is not finished when the document is written. It is finished when the team has a way to keep deciding well, quarter after quarter.
-
Companies between $5M and $100M are large enough to need real strategic discipline and small enough that the CEO is still close to every choice. That combination is where the right advisor makes the most difference, and where most generic consulting firms underserve.
